Charity Water

My friend Kristin (Kristin’s In Rome) and I have recently started a personal campaign for Charity:Water called Gelato’d In Rome. She is studying abroad in Rome, and I am working on the campaign stateside. The non-profit organization provides third-world countries with ways to get clean drinking water. This is something that I have become very passionate about, so we are trying to raise $1,000. That will help 50 people! I am asking for donations in ANY amount. Even a dollar can help. If you are unable to donate, please help us out by passing this information on to those around you who would be willing to donate. Here is the link to our campaign:

This seriously is the funniest shit, evveerrr!
Watch the whole thing.

Liquorville.

And that’s just fine with me. 🙂
I’m so over any type of fears or judgements. Seriously, I’ve realized anyone can do anything they want to do. I’ve had such a fulfill-your-dreams kick lately, and I know that there are plenty of reason to not just go for it (whatever it is) in life, but I’m so over it! I just want to do what makes me happy, all the time.

Speaking of which, I heard that there is a GPS where Cartman is the voice. Someone pleeeeasseee find this and give it to me immediately.

And for the more sophisticated in the crowd, check out this article on the word “whatever”. It totally changed my outlook on the word. Nevertheless, I will still always quote South Park’s “Whatevveerrrr, I do what I want!!”

Life Lessons from Bro Tips

To be fair to all of the bro’s out there, almost every guy I hang with it in a fraternity. That being said, there is a difference between a fratty bro, and a BRAH. Normally I’d say something entitled “bro tips” would have to be considered part of the lame bro category that TFM would make fun of, but some of them were actually inspirational. In my defense I found these on pinterest.

In case you are unaware of what “that guy” is, read this. Caution: if you are unaware then you are “that guy”. (Can be referring to a female). If not, read the article anyway, it’s hilarious! Via Thought Catalog. (Which I follow on Twitter and is increasingly becoming my favorite thing to read online).

Hahaha. I realize I’m burning myself with this one.

And finally,

🙂 Goodnight world.

What Your Favorite Color Says About You!

What do the colors you are drawn to say about you?

Via Paper Source

I’m one of those annoying people who say they don’t have a favorite color. I couldn’t even tell you which ones I was most drawn to because I’m honestly drawn to all of them. Every time I look at it my opinion changes. I’m just too indecisive for questions like that!

I love this diluted shade of light blue lately. I don’t know how to describe it because it’s not exactly baby blue, but it’s not a light teal. All I know is it’s very pretty 🙂

You just gotta check out The Holy Nail. Amazing!

Mushroom and Goat Cheese Bruschetta From A Couple Cooks

Serves about 4 as an appetizer

What You Need :

Good crusty bread

Goat cheese
4 ounces mushrooms (we used baby bellas and shiitakes)
A few handfuls fresh thyme and oregano
One clove garlic
Lemon juice
Olive oil
Kosher salt
Fresh ground pepper

What To Do

Prepare the bread: Cut the bread into slices, and brush each side with olive oil. Then:
-Cook on a preheated grill until golden brown, a few minutes per side (be careful that it doesn’t burn!) OR
-Cook on a griddle on the stovetop, about 1 minute per side OR
-Preheat an oven to 450°F. Place the oiled bread on a baking sheet and toast until golden, around 5 to 6 minutes.

2 Prepare the mushrooms: Wipe any dirt off of the mushrooms and slice them. Wash the thyme and oregano and remove the leaves; coarsely chop them if necessary. In a saucepan, drizzle about 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Throw in the mushrooms, herbs, kosher salt, and fresh ground pepper, and saute until tender, about 4 minutes. Turn off the heat, and add a few squeezes of lemon juice.

3 Assemble the bruschetta: Peel and cut off the end of a garlic clove. Rub the cut end of the garlic on the top of each bread slice. Spread some goat cheese over each slice, and top with the mushrooms.

Martha Stewart’s Pom Poms

Martha Stewart’s Pom Poms

Cut the fabric into strips; using a rotary cutter, an acrylic ruler, and a cutting mat will be the least labor-intensive method. (For garland, cut 7-, 9-, or 12-inch-wide strips that are 120 inches long. For favor and hair decorations, cut 3-inch-wide strips that are 20 inches long. Hand-sew a running stitch down the center (tie a knot in the end of your sewing thread, leaving a long tail), stopping after about 12 inches to push the fabric along the thread to gather it. Continue stitching and bunching until you reach end of strip; gather the fabric tightly, and tie the tails of the sewing thread in a knot. (If you will use the pom-poms for headbands or favor decorations, do not trim the sewing thread now.)

To make puffs into garlands, use a long large-eyed needle, such as a darning needle or upholstery needle, to sew white string through the centers of the pom-poms, and slide the pom-poms into position as you go. (Trim the ends of the sewing thread at any point after knotting.)

To use a puff to grace a favor box or as a hair decoration, use the tails of the sewing thread to tie or sew the pom-pom to the headband, the favor ribbon, or to the loop of a bobby pin; then trim the thread.
